IP Internet Protocol, often referred to as TCP/IP for Transport Control Protocol and Internet Protocol. Because of the popularity of the Internet, this packet structure became the most popular way of transporting all information across carriers. Because it was designed for data and not for video and voice, many special protocol tricks have to be employed to carry IP over optical systems, or even for carrying voice and video in electronic networks that utilize IP.

iSCSI (Bosch) Internet Protocol SCSI. A protocol, a standardized way to talk to IP-based storage across an IP network. In the context of Bosch’s Video over IP portfolio, the target is iSCSI RAID storage, and the initiator could be say a Dinion IP or a VIP X-based encoder such as the VIP X1 or VIP X1600.

Infrared Illumination Electromagnetic radiation (light) with a longer wavelength that is visible to the naked eye. IR illumination is prominent at dusk and dawn and in incandescent lamps. IR illuminators come in the form of lamps with the apppropriate filters, LEDs, or lasers. CCD sensors are less sensitive to IR thatn visible light, but IR can significantly increase the total illumination level, leading to a much better image at low light levels.
